MGB 1 employees undergo Occupational First Aid and Basic Life Support-CPR with AED Course

 SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region 1 partnered with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) La Union Chapter in the conduct of an Occupational First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course last February 23-24, 2022. Fifteen MGB 1 employees undergone the 2-day course which is recommended for workplace that offers first aid, CPR with AED and responds to occupational hazards. It complies to the requirements, which defines a ”certified first-aider” as any person trained and duly certified or qualified to administer first aid by the PRC.

PRC Trainors Ms. Steffany Krisha Pomilban and Ms. Jenifer Apilado guided the participants through different first aid and basic life support strategies and techniques. Further, they reiterated in the said training that knowledge in first aid shall enable them to assist people who are injured in the event of an emergency situation or accident in the workplace. Having a certified first aider team who goes through first aid training not only makes the workplace a safer place, it is also able to reduce casualties in emergency situations. A simulation was conducted to test the participant’s knowledge and skills they learned during the training using scenarios across a variety of learning objectives. Participants were reminded to observe health precautionary guidelines to avoid COVID-19 transmission.
